AREA INFORMATION & ATTRACTIONS Elmcroft Manor is located within walking distance of the quaint Village of Hammondsport, located on Keuka Lake. Many travel guides recommend Keuka Lake as the prettiest and most pristine of all the Finger Lakes. And, The Washington Post wrote that the Village was one of the most charming in America. The antique/gift shops and restaurants are built around a village square with gazebo; small-town life at it's best. Keuka Lake has one of the largest concentrations of wineries in the Finger Lakes, with more than a dozen dotting the banks of the lake. Pleasant Valley Wine Company is located on the same road as Elmcroft Manor and is the oldest winery, holder of U.S. Bond No. 1 The most distinguished winery in the entire region and a favorite of connoisseurs is Konstantin Frank's Vinifera Wine Cellars, probably a 10 minute drive from Elmcroft. Dr. Frank, as it's known, produces outstanding award-winning wines. Other excellent wineries within a 10 minute drive of the bed and breakfast include Heron Hill Winery, Bully Hill Vineyards, Rooster Hill and Ravines. The Curtiss Museum is located a five minute drive from Elmcroft. This museum features pioneers of American aviation, including Glenn Curtis, a native of Hammondsport. Just a short 30 minute drive away is the historic town of Corning and the world renowned Corning Museum of Glass, and down the road from Corning another aviation museum, The War Plane Museum, is a must see for visitors. Along Keuka Lake and within short driving distance are numerous restaurants and taverns featuring casual and gourmet dining. Antique shops and Amish/Memonite farm stands/craft markets are within walking distance or just a short drive from Elmcroft. |
